All members present – Ty, Kyle, Christine, Bryant
Meeting goal: Discuss weekly progress and upcoming dates, goals, and work.
Open tasks:
- User Story script creation/research – Christine, Bryant
- We are also going to begin writing the script for the user story animation that is due for the final deliverable. This will be completed over the course of the next two weeks.
- Spotify API information integration – Kyle
- Continue implementing the Spotify API into the backend by grabbing and displaying artist content. This will hopefully be complete by next week.
- Artist Modal Functionality + Artist Node Option Modal Functionality – Kyle
- Styling is still a bit buggy so this will remain an open task until some of the quirks are worked out
Closed tasks:
- Usability Testing Guide – Bryant, Christine, Ty
- A few edits were made to the usability testing guide to have it more open-ended and user-guided within each section of the interview. The doc is ready for the first set of user tests but may be tweaked after the first few interviews depending on how those go. (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Er0VpS1AjPap7huOharoaqalwrY3Z_WO7BWV3lC_QiM/edit#)
- Microinteraction Guidelines – Christine
- We created a guideline that documents the various microinteractions found throughout Omni. (https://www.figma.com/proto/3b0UPHJb5BIZDMW0CcS4mF/Omni?page-id=1020%3A2521&node-id=1051%3A10003&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=1051%3A10003)
- QA Testing Round 1 – Ty, Bryant
- We completed the first round of design QA to ensure the live Omni site matches as closely as possible to the prototypes. (https://www.figma.com/file/3b0UPHJb5BIZDMW0CcS4mF/Omni?node-id=1111%3A6695)
- “Refresh/show more artists” Design Exploration – Christine, Ty
- Redesigned the “Refresh” button to say “Load more artists”. (https://www.figma.com/proto/3b0UPHJb5BIZDMW0CcS4mF/Omni?page-id=921%3A2733&node-id=923%3A2823&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=923%3A2455)
- Tooltip Design Component – Ty
- Added component for tooltips on the artist node options to have additional clarity about the functions of each button. (https://www.figma.com/proto/3b0UPHJb5BIZDMW0CcS4mF?page-id=921%3A2733&node-id=923%3A3101&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=923%3A2455)
- Filtering system in the search bar for “similar”, “influenced”, and “influences” – Ty
- Redesigned the search bar component to include the ability to quickly filter the type of search from the homepage. This would allow users to immediately jump to either “Influences”, “Similar”, or “Influenced” options without the need for extra clicks. Would like to test this design with users to see if it is clear and if there should be a default option between either three options. (https://www.figma.com/proto/3b0UPHJb5BIZDMW0CcS4mF/Omni?page-id=921%3A2733&node-id=923%3A2472&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=923%3A2455)
- Filtering system component integrated into artist web view – Ty
- Also designed a component that would allow users to quickly change the selected node option. This also provides a visual indication of the option that they have selected. This component would also have the same tooltips appear as above to provide the appropriate amount of context for users. (https://www.figma.com/proto/3b0UPHJb5BIZDMW0CcS4mF/Omni?page-id=921%3A2733&node-id=923%3A2823&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=923%3A2455)
- Artist “About” page – Christine, Ty
- Designed the “About” page within the artist module. ()
- Add dynamic artist overview information onto artist modals using Spotify API – Kyle
- Using the Spotify API, whenever an artist modal is opened while selecting an artist node, the corresponding artist’s popular tracks and albums are displayed in the modal
- Clean up CSS to match the final design of Omni – Kyle
- After our first round of QA on the Omni site, we touched up the CSS, and removed the artist name that was being displayed at the top of the site after completing a search. The Omni site now looks almost identical to the final design.
- Edit animation of node connections sliding to the right on artist node select – Kyle
- When a user selects an artist node that isn’t the searched artist, the selected node slides to the left, and the rest of the nodes slide to the right. The nodes that slide to the right now stay closer to the center of the screen, opposed to before when they slid too far off-center.
New tasks:
- User Testing Round 1 – Bryant, Christine, Ty
- We are looking to complete the first round of user testing on the live site this week.
- Functionality of “Influences, Similar, Influences” development – Kyle
