Research (1.5 hours)
- Spotify Brand Redesign (2014) – dark backgrounds puts more focus on the albums, artists, and the whole music experience. A comparison made by Michelle Kadir, director of product development at Spotify, was that in a dark movie theater, the audience experiences the movie, not the theater. Design (2.5 hours)
- primarily focused on the beginning stages of the design process – this included gathering UI inspiration as well as creating two mood boards, based off of research that informed some color choices.
Next Week
- Research and learn more about Neo4j (https://neo4j.com/) for database visualization of Omni
- Finalize Omni’s color scheme and typography to create a stylesheet
- Look into potential animations/interactions
- Create 2-3 user personas
- Depending on team’s progress, start sketching wireframes of the main pages of Omni
Obstacles
- Scheduling/time management – dedicating time on Thursday and Sunday for Omni
- Knowledge on database visualization, different frameworks and softwares, API (Web scraper, Neo4j, AllMusic, Spotify Web API) – continuous research for better understanding
